Hi! I am so happy you are here. As daunting as introductions are, I will do my best to familiarize myself.
My name is Emilia Anne Tattrie. I have learned to love my name, but let’s be honest, it’s never fun to go to souvenir shops as an 8 year old scouring the prints of names on various pocketknives, baby cups (shot glasses), and keychains just to find out that the name “Emilia” isn’t a popular enough. Nonetheless, my name is a large part of who I am. My name is “Emilia” not “Amelia” because I was born on the mission field in Costa Rica and my parents wanted to spell it like the Costa Ricans did. My middle name is Anne (with an “e”) because my dad is from Prince Edward Island, and for all the Anne of Green Gable lovers out there you know that Anne is from Prince Edward Island.
I am (almost) twenty one years old and I am a senior at Liberty University. My major is writing with a double minor in creative writing and English. When someone asks what I want to do with my major the answer that always comes to mind is everything. I hate the thought of being limited to to anything but the world itself. However, my answer to anyone who isn’t my journal is that I want to work for a publishing company, be an editor, maybe teach English overseas–travel–oh and become a bestselling author of course.
I love school and I love to learn. I may never be the smartest in the room, but I will always be the most eager to learn.
I’m an enneagram 5 (the investigator) if that means anything to anyone. I’m notoriously good at games like Clue. (My family has stopped playing with me because I usually guess the murderer in the first round).
I’d like to say that I’m an “extroverted introvert.” I love to be around people (especially my close circle), but I have to be alone to rejuvenate.
I am extremely competitive, and I blame that on my parents who are also ultra competitive. They always pushed me in everything I did–whether it was school, sports, or music. I grew up playing competitive soccer and I loved every minute of it.
I am the second out of four children. I have an older brother, a younger sister, and a younger brother. I was raised in Lakeland, Florida, and spent most of my childhood dreaming of moving somewhere that has seasons (autumn is my favorite).
I LOVE to travel. I have been to ten different countries and plan on going to at least fifty more. Missions has always been a big part of my life. I grew up going on 1-2 overseas mission trips a year with my family and it will always be one of the most beautiful things I’ve ever experienced. It has impacted who I am in more ways than one.
I love to do pretty much anything outdoors, whether its hiking or swimming in the ocean. Since I was a little girl I have loved the forrest. I feel the most like myself alone in the woods (I’m sure some of you can relate).
Some of favorite things on this planet are handwritten letters (I have kept every letter I have ever received since I was eight), fringe notebooks, late night chats, snow leopards, the notes app, chocolate ice cream, spontaneous trips, black ink pens, Mexican restaurants, earrings, books, tea cups, and COFFEE!
If I have airpods in, I’m usually listening to Lizzy McAlpine, The Lumineers, Noah Kahn, Bon Iver, or worship music!
My favorite book (besides the Bible) is Screwtape Letters by C.S. Lewis. I quote C.S. Lewis way too often, but he is one of my greatest inspirations as a writer.
I’m not a big TV show person but I do love Parks and Rec, Murder She Wrote, and Gilmore Girls (I’m a big re-run gal).
Pride and Prejudice has been my favorite movie since I was eleven and I don’t think it’s going to change anytime soon.
I love meeting new people and hearing their stories. In a world where everyone wants to be heard, there is so much beauty in being a listener!
I’d like to say that I’m a realist, but deep down in my soul I am a pessimist (which is something I have been working on). My nicknames when I was younger was “Miss Melancholy” and “Eeyore” because I always had a solemn look on my face and acted like as if I was carrying the world on my shoulders.
The most important part of who I am is that I love Jesus and I desire to look more like Him each and everyday. I am broken, but He so graciously bestows His mercy upon me each day!
Well, that’s pretty much the sparknotes of who I am! Take some time today and get to know the little details of what makes you, you!
